Ashfall Legion

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Ashfall Legion is the kind of strategy game I keep recommending to people who think mobile can't do depth. You move units across a hex map, but the smart part is supply: push too far and your front line starves, so you learn to advance in careful, connected steps. It makes every turn a small puzzle.

The touch controls are well thought out. Tap a unit, drag to preview its range, release to commit — and you can undo a move before ending your turn, which saves a lot of frustration. Battles resolve quickly, so a full skirmish fits into a coffee break.

The campaign ramps up honestly. Early missions teach you one idea at a time, and by the midgame you're juggling three fronts at once. It respects your intelligence, and the difficulty curve never felt cheap to me.
