Neon Drift Riders

Neon Drift Riders isn't about being first so much as being stylish. The whole game hangs on holding a drift as long as you dare, and the tilt-or-tap steering is forgiving enough that beginners can chain a few corners together in their first race.

I liked the sense of speed and the soundtrack, which does a lot of heavy lifting. The car handling is loose by design, so purists might bounce off it, but for a quick blast of color and motion it delivers. Tracks unlock at a fair pace without grinding.

My one gripe is that later cars feel a bit samey. Still, for something you pull out to burn ten minutes, it's a solid choice with genuinely great controls.
