Strategy games that fit into a five-minute break

A lot of people skip strategy games because they think each session demands a huge time block. That used to be true, but plenty of modern mobile strategy games are built around short, complete bursts of play.

The trick is looking for games with self-contained levels rather than endless campaigns. Puzzle-style tower defence like Pocket Fortress gives you a full challenge in a couple of minutes, and you can walk away satisfied instead of leaving something half-finished.

I keep two kinds of games on my phone: one deep game for when I have time, and one bite-sized tactical one for queues and waiting rooms. That combination means I'm never stuck choosing between a real session and nothing at all.

If your commute is your main gaming window, prioritize games that save mid-level and load fast. A five-second boot time is worth more than fancy graphics when your window is short.
