Pocket Fortress

Pocket Fortress is tower defence stripped to its cleverest core. Instead of endless waves, each level is a tight puzzle with limited towers and a single elegant answer you have to figure out. It's the most 'one more level' game on this whole list.

Placement is tap-and-drag, and you can pause the wave to reposition, which turns the game into a thinking exercise rather than a reflex test. The difficulty climbs steeply but always fairly — every failure taught me something.

If you like puzzles and towers in equal measure, this is a small masterpiece. I finished it in a few sittings and immediately wanted more levels.
